Here are the problems with opposition to civil marriage equality for all Marylanders:
The effort to deny the civil right to a marriage license has no purpose other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in Maryland.
The effort to deny the civil right to a marriage license has no other effect than to take away from some citizens the important and legally significant designation "marriage."
The effort to deny the civil right to a marriage license has no legitimate reason behind it. Under the present law, no church, no pastor will be required to conduct a wedding ceremony contrary to the doctrines or the procedures of any given church or denomination.
Voting to restrict the civil rights of others is repellant to our democracy.
